LOCAL GOVERNMENT WORKSHOPS

Connecting Citizens to Online Local Government
Michigan’s local governments are key to providing local online information and communication services and can be vital agents in expanding the information technology capacity of our communities. Michigan’s citizens and businesses must be able to conduct electronically a wide range of financial, regulatory, and democratic interactions with their local governments. These are critical to the continued competitiveness of our communities in a global economy and to the strength of local civic engagement, which is very important to our democracy.

Today’s local governments need IT empowerment in order to provide quality, current, meaningful and useful information to their constituents via the Internet. Technology is consistently & rapidly advancing thus increasing consumer demand for high-speed information. Citizens are using more advanced methods and techniques for receiving information. Local governments need the appropriate resources to keep up in this information age. These workshops are designed specifically for those involved, at any level, with developing and sustaining local government Web sites.
