* Madison: Technology supervisor title questioned
At the Aug. 29 special meeting of the Madison School Board, questions arose concerning the role of the “Technology Supervisor,” a new position that was approved by the board earlier in the month. According to the job description provided by the district’s Human Resource department, the Technology Supervisor will be a part of central administration, answering to the director of human resources. The 52-week position will pay approximately $35,000 per year, commensurate with experience, plus benefits.

* Detroit: Detroit Country Day students plug away … and in
When students at Detroit Country Day headed back to school for fall, they hit more than just the books. Students begin the laptop program in middle school, where there are 360 laptops in use and three desktop computers for student use in the media center. In the program, classrooms are networked and wireless areas are set up throughout the school media center, front lobby and the student center alcove.

* Paw Paw: Paw Paw Police to Link Up To Missing Child Network
The Paw Paw Police Department is now a participant in the "A Child is Missing" alert program, according to Russ Reynnells, chief of police. The program, based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is a tool to aid law enforcement in locating missing children. It is a rapid-response, alert telephone-calling network which will disseminate information about a missing child.

* St. Clair Shores: Police say be cautious about Internet, phone scams
Jim Fitzpatrick placed an advertisement in Auto Trader magazine when he decided to sell his 1997 Chrysler Sebring convertible. The ad he placed in August was well received, but the St. Clair Shores resident just wasn’t getting the offer he was looking for. On Sept. 3, Fitzpatrick received an e-mail inquiry from a man named “Clifford,” who was interested in purchasing the vehicle. “The last offer I had was for $8,750,” said Fitzpatrick. “So this guy offered $8,800.” But, there was a catch.
