The TOP Program The Technology Opportunities Program (TOP) (Opens in new window.), formerly known as the Telecommunications and Information Infrastructure Assistance Program, is a highly-competitive, merit-based grant program that brings the benefits of an advanced national information infrastructure to communities throughout the United States. TOP grants have played an important role in realizing the vision of an information society by demonstrating practical applications of new telecommunications and information technologies to serve the public interest. Since 1994, TOP has made matching grants to state, local and tribal governments, health care providers, schools, libraries, police departments, and community-based non-profit organizations. TOP projects demonstrate how networks support lifelong learning for all Americans, help public safety officials protect the public, assist in the delivery of health care and public health services, and foster communication, resource-sharing, and economic development within rural and urban communities. The 2001 Funding Workshop Each year TOP conducts Technical Assistance Workshops (Opens in new window.) across the country for people interested in knowing more about the Program or making an application for a grant. CyberMichigan was pleased to host TOP program officers as they conduct a Workshop for Michigan’s potential TOP 2001 applicants. |
